Qualifications:

• Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a Long Term care or Acute Care environment considered an asset.
• Previous laundry experience considered an asset
• Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and follow through on specific instructions.
• Must be able to maintain a high level of sanitation, both personal and in the entire work area
• Must be responsible, dependable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift, pull, push and move carts, equipment and heavy materials on a regular basis.
• WHMIS training an asset.
• Must be of able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time, in good general health and able to endure the day-to-day pressures of the position
• Must be able to maintain regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Northwood corporate standard.

Responsibilities:

• Presses resident's personal clothing, table cloths and skirts, microfiber clothes and mops, and napkins.
• Washes, dries, and irons clothes ; Ensures equipment is clean and safe.
• Operates washers and dryers adhering to established formulas and manufacturer's instructions.
• Assists, as necessary, in other laundry duties such as folding, untangling, pressing, packages, and the distribution of clean linen/laundry.
• Cleans and maintains washing and drying equipment for use in linen/laundry including the linen and laundry rooms.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Follows safe work practice for chemical use including proper labeling, storage and use.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Shift hours of operational subjet to change pending operational needs

Salary/Benefits: As Per NSGEU Collective Agreement.
