This organization operates throughout Atlantic Canada, offering a range of services that span both operational and corporate functions. With a focus on safety, support, and quality service, the company maintains a blend of diverse environments and locations. As the organization continues to modernize systems and expand its service offerings, employees enjoy the chance to make meaningful contributions within a workplace that genuinely values innovation, growth, and human connection.

Role Description:

Reporting to VP of Human Resources, the Health & Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs across a blended operational environment. You'll be a strategic partner to leaders, a coach to front-line teams, and an advocate for practical, proactive safety practices that protect employees and their customers.

By joining, you will be supported by an engaged team and will have the autonomy needed to modernize programs, training, and reporting systems. You'll have access to a competitive compensation package, excellent benefits and company pension plan.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Develop, modernize, and implement safety programs for mixed-risk environments covering foundational initiatives;
- Design and deliver practical, scenario-based training for all employee groups, from frontline staff to leadership team;
- Use technology and safety-management systems to enhance reporting, analytics, policy development, program tracking, and overall efficiency in safety administration;
- Strengthen organizational safety culture by promoting proactive reporting and continuous learning, helping shift behaviors from minimum-compliance to consistent best-practice adoption;
- Engage directly with field operations to understand real-world working conditions and ensure programs accurately reflect operational realities;
- Partner with operational leaders to conduct thorough incident investigations, perform root-cause analysis, and convert insights into clear corrective and preventive actions;
- Manage regulatory compliance and employee support programs, including Workers' Compensation claims, return-to-work planning, and adherence to OHS legislation across all four Atlantic provinces;
- Maintain strong organizational presence and visibility by being on-site multiple days per week and travelling regularly across Atlantic Canada locations for scheduled and ad-hoc safety support;
- Collaborate with JOHSC partners across Atlantic Canada locations to maintain regulatory compliance, enhance communication, and drive the successful implementation of health and safety programs throughout the organization.

Your Qualifications:

This role is perfect for a collaborative health and safety professional who brings sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the confidence to lead in a dynamic, multi-site environment. With proven experience building practical programs, coaching leaders, and translating safety requirements into clear, actionable guidance, you thrive on meaningful field engagement and make data-driven decisions. Above all, you influence through partnership, clarity, and a genuine commitment to creating safer, smarter ways of working.

Your qualifications will include:

- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field, would be considered an asset;
- 8+ years of progressive health & safety experience within transportation, utilities, field service, fleet operations, construction, or similarly complex operational environments;
- CRSP strongly preferred; equivalent credentials with strong experience considered;
- Demonstrated success building programs and delivering training to both frontline and leadership audiences;
- Strong capability using modern technology and AI-enabled tools to accelerate policy development, analytics, and compliance processes;
- Experience supporting or managing safety in dispersed, multi-site operations;
- Strong judgment, communication skills, and the ability to influence without relying on compliance-only approaches;
- Valid driver's license and comfort travelling throughout the Atlantic region.
