Overview: Established in St. John's 2015, MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC (formally Altera (Atlantic) Management ULC) was developed from a regional shipping company into one of the world's largest marine energy, transportation, storage, and production companies. MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC nature of business is the provision of crude oil marine transportation services and the operation/management of crude oil shuttle tankers operating on the East Coast of Canada. MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the position below.
Position: Chief Cook
Rotation: Five weeks on/off
Status: Permanent
Position Summary
The Ship's Chief Cook must have the knowledge and competency required to provide ship's complement and visitors with healthy menu.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years experience in rank
- Transport Canada Ship's Cook Certification
- Transport Canada STCW Basic Safety
- Transport Canada STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
- Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
- Valid Passport
Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Responsibilities:
- Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
- Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
- Keeping the galley and provision rooms clean and prepared for rough weather.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the galley daily.
- Experience managing a budget and/or inventory and menu planning.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Plan and prepare regular meals at the designated times.
- Ensure cleanliness and a high standard of food safety and sanitation throughout the galley, storeroom and freezers.
- Responsible for ordering catering supplies while remaining within budget.
- Supervise the handling of stores received while ensuring a satisfactory standard is supplied.
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies and work procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by Captain.
- Demonstrate safety awareness.
