­Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for additions or modifications to plant facilities and related infrastructure.
• Provide technical engineering support with operating problems in generation, transmission and municipal infrastructure areas. May be required to supervise Hydro and Contractors' personnel to the solution of these problems.
• Provide engineering technical support to field operations staff for a variety of system operating and maintenance problems and programs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents for civil engineering projects.
• Supervise civil engineering capital project contracts throughout the Churchill Falls complex.
• Manage and provide budgetary control for annal contracted maintenance programs related to underground works, hydraulic structures, and other civil assets.
• Provide civil engineering expertise and technical supervision to projects carried out by other departments.
• Inspect civil structures and infrastructure to ensure structural integrity and recommend any necessary remedial actions.
• Investigate civil infrastructure failures using Root Cause Analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct material inspections and testing for quality assurance.
• Prepare and manage maintenance budgets for civil works.
• Participate in the Corporate Loss Control Program.
• Maintain awareness of and comply with environmental policies, corporate objectives, and environmental procedures.
• Prepare and update engineering directives and preventative maintenance standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and project teams.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach with demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making ability.
• A strong commitment to NL Hydro's vision, core values, and guiding principles.

­You may also provide technical directions to junior engineers, technologists, or drafters on specific projects, and occasionally supervise temporary staff or contractors on-site.

­What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized university.
• A minimum of Five (5) years' experience in engineering and construction.
• Membership or eligibility for membership with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
• Strong computer literacy, including engineering and analytical software applications relevant to the discipline.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

­Work is normally assigned to an office environment but will frequently require inspection of equipment during manufacture and on-site visits to operational facilities.

­Please note this is a full-time position located in Churchill Falls. Churchill Falls is a company-owned town supporting the Churchill Falls Generating Station, one of the largest underground hydroelectric plants in the world. Relocation to Churchill Falls will be required. Relocation expenses and subsidized living accommodations are provided to the successful candidate.
