ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY :
This position reports to the Manager, Strategic Communications.
The Engagement Coordinator is responsible for leading the City of Moncton's public engagement program. This will include coordinating public engagement activities for all City departments, both through developing and delivering engagement activities and by working with consultants to facilitate and promote engagement while ensuring externally-led activities meet City of Moncton standards and expectations. The Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of engagement, including developing and executing marketing plans, social media campaigns, and advertising campaigns; writing and editing content for print and web assets; and managing the City's online public engagement platform Let's Chat Moncton.
EDUCATION :
- University degree is required, preferably in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
- IAP2 certification would be considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have three (3) years of relevant and related work experience.
LANGUAGE:
- Must have superior professional level communications skills (comprehension, oral and written) skills in both French and English with a minimum of Advanced (3) Level as per the Province of New Brunswick Linguistic Standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Must have demonstrated experience in managing communications or engagement projects.
- Must have demonstrated experience in using public engagement tactics, tools, and processes and knowledge of public engagement principles.
- Must have demonstrated experience in developing and delivering communication marketing campaigns.
- Must have demonstrated experience in writing content for a wide variety of assets, including print, social media, and web.
- Must have demonstrated experience in using a variety of social media platforms to reach and engage audiences.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and be able to deliver programming and presentations in both English and French
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with external and internal partners
- knowledge of event planning and logistical coordination, with the ability to facilitate and host public events
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

- Ability to apply the principles of new technologies and emerging trends to support and enhance communications, marketing, and engagement initiatives.
TECHNICAL:
- Must have and maintain a Class 5 driver's licence.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
- Must have experience in using survey software (SurveyMonkey, Microsoft Forms, etc.).
- Must have experience with website content management.
- Must have experience using an engagement platform and the accompanying tools.
CONTACTS:
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with various groups such as employees and senior officials of the City Administration; Mayor and City councillors; representatives of external agencies, companies, organizations, and associations; media; and the general public.
CONDITIONS OF WORK:
- All employees must comply with Council and Corporate adopted policies and directives (ie. Attendance Management, Respectful Workplace, and Health and Safety).
- Normal working hours will prevail under agreeable working conditions in an open-office environment and are covered under the City Hall Employees Association (CHEA) Collective Agreement. The position involves variable hours that will occasionally include evenings, holidays, or weekends.
- The incumbent will work under continuous and results-oriented deadlines.
