(DBM) is a mechanical contracting company, working in the design, installation and management of institutional, commercials, industrial and biotechnological projects. DBM specializes in environmental performance as well as the design and manufacturing of custom equipment.

Job summary

Design Built Mechanical is seeking to hire a Project Coordinator. You will be working under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager, assisting in managing project budgets, preparing schedules, and requirements. Furthermore, you will be responsible for understanding the project scope, expectations, and requirements, evaluating the project progress and quality, reporting on the project status regularly, and identifying and mitigating potential risks. Additionally, you will suggest and implement strategies to achieve project goals, schedule and participate in project meetings to communicate project outcomes, develop project plans, and maintain project integrity by safeguarding quality documents and data. Ultimately, you will manage project resources and make sure deadlines are met. Our ideal candidate for this role should have excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the Project Manager to coordinate project activities
  • Understand the project scope, budgets, and requirements
  • Monitor projects to track and evaluate the progress, quality, and accuracy
  • Schedule and participate in project meetings to discuss expectations, progress, and outcomes
  • Identify project risks and implement risk mitigation measures
  • Report on project status and progress regularly
  • Suggest strategies to achieve project goals
  • Manage resources effectively to stick to project budgets and planning
  • Design and implement project methodologies, strategies, and deliverables
  • Maintain project integrity by safeguarding quality documents and data
  • Assist in day-to-day coordination tasks both in the office and in the field
  • Participate in required safety deliverables and promote a positive safety culture
  • Read blueprints to coordinate project needs
  • Communicate and collaborate with Site Supervisors to stay abreast of construction needs
  • In collaboration with the Site Supervisors, coordinate the delivery of materials, equipment, and manpower at the site.
  • Participate and contribute to planning and production meetings.
  • Facilitate effective communication to resolve issues and clarify project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and safety incidents.
  • Any other duties as required.

Requirements

  • A diploma/degree in mechanical, electrical, project management, management or construction or a related field; however, work experience in similar field could be considered
  • Minimum 3-5 years of project management experience in coordinating construction projects or a related role within the industry.
  • Strong knowledge of standard construction practices and processes, construction materials, and related applications
  • Physically able to perform job duties in demanding work environments, within proper safety parameters.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Maintain a valid Passport and be willing to travel in and outside of province and country when needed.
  • Field work and company site visits will frequently be required and will require the use of minimum PPE (Hardhat, Steel Toe Boots, reflective vest, etc.). Other PPE might also be necessary and will be driven by the environment of the work sites (specialized PPE, Gas monitors, Fall Arrest and Breathing Apparatus
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Adaptability to changing site conditions and requirements.
  • Able to communicate in both French and English
  • Ability to travel

Schedule:

  • Monday to Thursday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm and Friday 7:30 am- 3:00 pm
  • May require on call, overtime and weekends
