Volunteer - Auxiliary Constable - Fredericton Police Force

The Fredericton Police Force (FPF) is accepting applications from community-minded individuals interested in volunteering as Auxiliary Constables. The Auxiliary Program supports frontline policing and community safety initiatives while strengthening trust and partnerships between the police and the community we serve.
About the Role
Auxiliary Constables are trained volunteers appointed pursuant to the New Brunswick Police Act to provide non?enforcement support to frontline operations and community programs under the direction and supervision of sworn police officers. This is a meaningful volunteer opportunity for individuals who want to give back, build skills, and strengthen connections between police and the community.
Responsibilities
Auxiliary Constables may be assigned to assist with:
- Assistance at special events and community policing initiatives
- Distribution of public education and crime-prevention materials
- Traffic control and special traffic enforcement initiatives
- Crowd control at special events such as parades, festivals, and community gatherings
- Searches for missing persons and large-scale evidence searches
- Preservation of large crime scenes or disaster sites
- Acting as a support unit during major emergencies or disasters
- Other police-related duties deemed necessary and appropriate by the Fredericton Police Force
Auxiliary Constables do not carry firearms.
Commitment & Expectations
- Auxiliary Constables are volunteers, not employees, and are not financially compensated
- A minimum commitment of 120 volunteer hours per calendar year is required
- Participation in ongoing training is mandatory
- Volunteers must comply with all FPF policies, procedures, values, and ethical standards
- All uniforms and equipment remain the property of the Fredericton Police Force

Eligibility
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident; must have lived in Canada for at least five (5) years
- 19 years of age or older
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Valid first aid and CPR certificate prior to engagement
- Valid unrestricted driver's license
- Have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted and have no criminal charges pending before the courts and no history of criminality
- Be capable of completing a physical assessment based on FPF standards
