What You'll Be Doing
Are you a strong multi-tasker with interpersonal skills who is confident in providing financial expertise to project managers? Clean Foundation is looking for a Program Budget & Forecasting Specialist to join our team.
As a member of the Climate Department, you will provide financial analysis, forecasting expertise and budget development support to project managers. If you are comfortable completing tasks independently while collaborating as part of a team this role may be right for you. Your support will include developing and managing project budgets, monitoring financial performance, and supporting accurate financial reporting. This specialist will ensure that project budgets align with funding requirements, organizational processes, and program objectives while looking ahead to future program growth.
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone with experience in financial decision making with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data and performance to make recommendations.
- Post Secondary Education in accounting, finance or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ Years experience with full cycle accounting and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience developing project budgets and financial forecasts
- Familiarity with municipal finance or public-sector funding environments.
- Experience supporting funding applications or grant-based financial reporting is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong financial data analysis skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar financial management software preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial staff.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
Job Responsibilities
In this role you will act as a specialist providing financial expertise to project managers and supporting staff in the Community Climate Initiatives Department.
- Developing project budgets in collaboration with project managers.
- Review monthly budget to actuals, confirm expenditures, generate invoices and complete necessary program purchases.
- Prepare financial projections and forecasts to support program planning and growth.
- Conduct variance analysis and review journal entries related to project finances.
- Review month-end financial statements related to assigned programs and projects.
- Requesting quotes and estimates to support funding applications.
- Execute transactions on behalf of the project teams.
- Support budget development and financial tracking for new and expanding programs.
- Contribute financial analysis and projections for internal reporting and planning activities.
- Assist with funder reporting requirements related to financial performance and project budgets.
- Identify potential financial risks or budget variances and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Contribute financial expertise to funding applications and program development initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve budgeting tools, forecasting models and tracking systems.
- Contribute to strengthening financial performance, accountability and transparency across projects and programs.
- Prepare financial summaries, forecasts, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting.
- Maintain accurate financial records and project budget data.
- Other duties as assigned
