The department of University Relations at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Manager, Alumni Engagement and Giving

Responsibilities

The Manager of Alumni Engagement & Giving (''The Manager'') is a senior member of the Advancement team responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, and performance of the University's alumni engagement and alumni giving initiatives. This role leads the development and implementation of institution-wide alumni engagement and alumni giving strategies that strengthen and extend the alumni lifecycle, advance philanthropic participation and awareness, and contribute directly to the University's fundraising goals. The Manager is the key relationship holder for Mount Saint Vincent Alumni Association Board including all governance and key functions, and critical affinity partners.

Engagement Accountabilities Summary:

  • Strategic development, planning, execution and measurement of alumni and student related engagement efforts as it relates to the university's broader mission
  • Devises strategic goals and objectives in key areas of alumni/student relations, translating into developing and directing programs that strengthens an alumni's affinity to the University
  • Promotes MSVU'S Reputation through alumni engagement ultimately aiding in recruitment efforts

Alumni Giving Accountabilities Summary:

  • Lead the strategic identification of existing alumni giving opportunities and the development of new alumni giving programs that reflect the evolving fundraising landscape and the diversity of the University's alumni community.
  • Design, implementation and measurement of fundraising initiatives that leverage University lifecycle moments such as faculty-or-program specific milestones, alumni giving days, targeted engagement and participation-driven campaigns
  • Identify and refer Major Gift and Planned Giving leads for Manager of Philanthropy and Executive Director
  • Stewardship of all alumni giving program participants
  • Manage budget and forecasting for Alumni Giving
Qualifications

You bring at least five years of progressive experience in fundraising, communications, marketing, public relations, community relations, or a related field, ideally in a post-secondary or nonprofit environment. You have led initiatives that strengthen relationships, increase participation, and deliver measurable results.

You understand how engagement supports revenue growth and are comfortable working toward participation and fundraising targets. You use data to inform decisions, refine strategy, and improve performance. Experience with CRM systems, digital campaigns, or audience segmentation is an asset.
You are a strong relationship builder who works effectively with senior leaders, faculty, volunteers, partners, and donors. You communicate clearly, exercise sound judgment, and navigate complex environments with professionalism.
You are comfortable leading and supporting a direct report setting priorities, providing guidance and feedback, and ensuring work is delivered to a high standard.

You hold a university degree; a background in communications, public relations, business, or a related discipline is considered an asset. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague and SharePoint.

Classification: Permanent, Full-Time MPA Level 5 Position
Salary: $70,501 per annum [Step Progression: $70,501 to $85,775]
