The Centre will serve residents of Oxford and the surrounding communities across Cumberland County, including a growing population of newcomers. It will strengthen social connections, support community well-being, and provide a shared space for programs, services, and events.
The Position:
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors
The Centre Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Community Centre and ensuring it runs efficiently and effectively. This role includes supervising and supporting all staff, managing scheduling, room bookings, cleaning, security, and the effective use of centre spaces. The Centre Manager handles administrative duties such as record-keeping, reporting, and correspondence, and coordinates programs, events, community use of the facility, and volunteers helping in operations. In addition, the Centre Manager ensures that all policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements are followed, and serves as the primary point of contact for community members, partners, service providers, and contractors.
Key Skills & Qualities:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience in administration or facility management. They will have excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, be able to work independently, and effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong computer skills and experience proficiency with social media is required. Familiarity with community-based or non-profit organizations is considered an asset.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Post-secondary education is preferred for this position. Relevant education that would be considered an asset would include,
- Recreation and Leisure Studies
- Business Administration
- Facility Management
- Social Sciences or Community Development
- Communications or Marketing
Previous experience with related responsibilities is required for this position. Relevant experience could include,
- Experience in community services, parks and recreation or facility operations.
- Supervisory or Management experience including team leadership.
- Experience in program development, special events planning, and managing facilities.
- Experience working with diverse community members, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check in accordance with Community Centre policies.
