Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As Managing Director, Head of Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF), you'll lead a national team in structuring, delivering, and managing project finance and public-private partnership (PPP) transactions and will play a key role in contributing to the realization of Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives. You will bring your extensive market experience, leadership, business development, financial modelling and structuring skills to drive growth in support of the national mandate of the PIF team, with a particular focus on enhancing capabilities related to energy transition and other areas of opportunity.

What will you do?

  • Lead a growing national team of Project Finance and PPP professionals to drive revenue growth and deliver financing solutions to project developers and consortiums

  • Drive business growth in PPP and renewable energy, data centres, fibre, and other opportunities/segments, by directing and leading deal teams to pitch, structure, deliver, document, close syndicated and bilateral senior debt transactions, including due diligence, credit submissions and transaction presentations

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with RBC partners including Group Risk Management, Capital Markets, Investment Banking

  • Provide market and industry analysis to support CCG guidance on optimal loan structures that meet client objectives

  • Assess risk and return profiles for PIF transactions to inform client strategies and transaction responses

  • Develop and maintain a business pipeline sufficient to win new business and close loan transactions to meet revenue plans

  • Support and direct the management and monitoring of the PIF loan portfolio, including timely reporting of material shifts in risk, client needs, and structure, and provide recommendations for action including new marketing opportunities

  • Provide senior level oversight on PIF credit submissions and associated analysis to ensure a high level of credit quality and analysis

What do you need to succeed?
Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics or a related field

  • 10+ years of work experience in Project and PPP financing, including senior debt credit knowledge, and experience in leading renewable energy transactions

  • Extensive experience in modeling and interpreting financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets

  • Proven business development and negotiation skills

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time-sensitive deadlines

  • Effective communication, interpersonal and client relationship skills, and ability to work effectively within a team environment

  • Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills

  • Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel

Nice to have:

  • MBA, CPA, CFA or other relevant professional designation

  • Bilingual (French/English) communication skills
