Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Marketing, the Planned Giving & Mid-Level Marketing Specialist is responsible for advancing the digital strategies that support Planned Giving and Mid-Level Giving programs ($501-$24,999) at the Canadian Red Cross. In this role, you will lead the strategic thinking and hands-on execution of donor engagement journeys that move donors from initial interest through stewardship, conversion, and long-term commitment.
You will apply a combination of digital marketing expertise, fundraising knowledge, and data-driven insight to design, build, and optimize donor journeys across digital channels. Working closely with direct mail, stewardship, planned giving, major gifts, and marketing partners, you will help ensure donors experience intentional, personalized, and donor-centric engagement, at scale.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, digitally fluent fundraising professional who is comfortable balancing strategic ownership with hands-on delivery. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of digital strategy, donor experience, and philanthropy.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and execute end-to-end marketing and engagement strategies for Planned Giving and Mid-Level Giving, including segmentation, lifecycle planning, and tailored donor journeys.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify donor insights, opportunities, and gaps, applying findings to optimize fundraising strategies.
- Manage data requests, criterium and transfer for campaigns with internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring accurate, secure, and timely delivery.
- Design, build, and manage digital automations and nurture journeys (e.g., welcome series, follow-ups, stewardship, and upgrade workflows).
- Execute digital fundraising initiatives within established systems and tools, collaborating with internal teams to ensure coordinated delivery.
- Serve as a strategic partner with direct mail, stewardship, planned giving, and major gifts teams to support donor handoffs, shared insights, and aligned marketing and stewardship approaches.
- Monitor and analyse performance metrics, maintain accurate records, and adjust strategies to meet fundraising and stewardship objectives
- Monitor industry trends and best practices, attend related conferences, and integrate into program, as appropriate
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support planned giving and mid-level giving marketing initiatives.
What we are looking for:
- 6-9 years of experience in fundraising, planned giving, digital or direct marketing, or a related field and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in business, marketing, philanthropy, psychology or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Specialized experience leading strategy and executing digital and direct marketing fundraising programs, mid-level giving programs, or planned giving activities
- Strong understanding of planned giving principles and the ability to clearly communicate the value and impact of planned gifts to donors, paired with strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to identify complex problems, analyze interrelated factors, assess and mitigate risks, and develop solutions using specialized
- Ability to manage workload, balance competing priorities, and adapt strategies to evolving donor and organizational needs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and navigate sensitive or complex situations
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), CRMs, and experience working with digital platforms and systems (HubSpot, paid media platforms such as Meta).
- Fluency in English is required; French is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily conducted in a remote office-like environment using digital tools and platforms.
- Occasional travel to safe locations for meetings, planning sessions, or events may be required.
