Overview
Northeast Nutrition Inc, is seeking a dedicated Training Coordinator to support our growing feed mill operations in Truro, Nova Scotia. This newly created role is responsible for delivering high?quality training, enhancing onboarding, supporting employee development, and ensuring all staff are confident and competent in their responsibilities. The Training Coordinator will work closely with production leadership, HR, and Quality Assurance to strengthen employee experience, standardize training practices, and support continuous improvement efforts across the mill.
Responsibilities
Training & Onboarding
- Deliver onboarding for new hires, including safety, HACCP, SOPs, equipment operation, and plant orientation.
- Provide hands?on training for extrusion, batching, bagging, forklift operation, and other production activities.
- Support cross-training initiatives to build flexibility across shifts and departments.
- Ensure new hires receive consistent, structured support during their first weeks and months.
Training Program Development
- Develop, update, and maintain training manuals, job aids, and visual work instructions.
- Ensure materials reflect changes in processes, equipment, and new product launches.
- Work with supervisors and QA to maintain training aligned with HACCP, feed safety, and regulatory requirements.
Coaching & Performance Support
- Observe employees on the production floor and provide constructive coaching.
- Identify skill gaps, support refresher training, and contribute to employee development plans.
- Promote an engaged, supportive learning culture.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate training records, sign-offs, certifications, and training matrices.
- Support audit readiness by ensuring all training-related documents meet internal and CFIA standards.
- Track progress for new hires and coordinate check?ins at key milestones.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Partner with Supervisors, QA, HR, and Maintenance to understand training priorities.
- Recommend improvements to training processes, onboarding, and employee experience.
- Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, waste reduction, and SOP standardization.
- Participate in safety and production meetings to stay informed on operational needs.
Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, food production, aquaculture feed, or industrial operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of production equipment, processes, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop clear step?by?step instructions and visual training materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Minimum high school diploma; post-secondary education or trades training considered an asset.
- Comfortable delivering hands-on training in a plant environment across multiple shifts.

Working Conditions
- Plant environment with exposure to noise, temperature changes, and production equipment.
- Use of PPE required.
- Some extended hours or weekend work may be required for training coverage across shifts.
