McInnes Cooper is seeking an E-Billing Clerk to join our Finance & Accounting team in a full-time permanent position. This role will be responsible for supporting the E-Billing function in our firm which includes invoice preparation and submissions through various client billing platforms, collection efforts and reporting. This position offers flexibility to work in person or in a hybrid model from any of our seven office locations - Halifax, Sydney, St. John's, Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, or Charlottetown.

As an E-Billing Clerk, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, reviewing, and submitting electronic invoices through various client billing platforms.
  • Monitoring and resolving billing discrepancies and rejections.
  • Collaborating with lawyers and legal assistants to ensure billing compliance.
  • Tracking and following up on outstanding invoices and collections.
  • Maintaining accurate billing records and documentation.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end billing processes.
  • Providing support for audits and financial reporting, as needed.

The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business is an asset; however, we recognize that historical and systemic barriers have shaped and limited access to traditional education, training, and employment pathways for many individuals, particularly those from marginalized communities.   • Minimum two (2) years of billing and/or accounting experience in a law firm environment.
  • A strong understanding of legal billing processes and terminology.
  • Experience with e-billing platforms such as Elite 3E, Tymetrix, Serengetti, Legal Tracker, Legal X and Collaboratie would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities, and a high level of attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment!
