Position Overview and Objective

The Town of Shediac is seeking a resource person to oversee the management and monitoring of municipal recreational facilities, equipment, and special events, in accordance with established policies and procedures. The incumbent will not be responsible for developing new policies, but rather for ensuring that all existing practices, agreements, and procedures are consistently followed and properly implemented. The position is responsible for maintaining service continuity and ensuring user satisfaction with municipal facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the day-to-day management of municipal equipment, facilities, and grounds.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service and provide ongoing follow-up with users.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate reservations and events in collaboration with Community Officers and the Department Superintendent.
  • Receive, review, and coordinate requests for the use of recreational facilities.
  • Execute and manage the signing of ice rental contracts for hockey and ringette associations and leagues, as well as other private rentals.
  • Prepare arena billing (winter season and summer season for bookings) in accordance with established fees and produce monthly financial reports for the Finance Department.
  • Coordinate reservation schedules with facility staff.
  • Register participants for courses and sessions offered.
  • Maintain up-to-date records, indexes, and files.
  • Verify accounts, follow up on invoices, and manage overdue accounts.
  • Respond to information requests and inquiries from users and the general public.
  • Provide administrative support at the front desk and perform any other related duties required for the efficient operation of the department.
  • Assist the Community Development Officer in planning staffing and resource needs for events.
  • Ensure the application of operational and cleanliness procedures at the Multifunctional Centre.
  • Supervise and evaluate maintenance staff at the Multifunctional Centre.
  • Monitor budgets and ensure the control and coordination of assigned municipal projects.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned and consistent with the responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Education (Diploma/Certificate):

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism Management or an equivalent qualification.
  • College diploma in Business Administration - Accounting option, or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field, preferably within municipal sector, operational management, or the events industry.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Bilingual (French and English), spoken and written.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a network of contacts.
  • Proficiency with computer tools, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of the Proloc reservation system is considered an asset.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with Municipal Council, economic partners, citizens, and employees.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and deliver high-quality customer service.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand and apply existing policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image with the public.

Hours of Work : Employees may finish work at noon on Fridays, provided they have made up the equivalent of three (3) hours earlier in the same week. This position requires occasional participation in meetings held outside regular working hours, as well as attendance at weekend events.

Work Location: Shediac Multipurpose Centre

Salary Scale: $62,500 - $75,000

Employment Type: Contract (maternity leave replacement) - April 20, 2026 to January 28, 2028
