About CFNS
Located in Kentville, Chicken Farmers of Nova Scotia (CFNS) is the farmer-run commodity board that manages Nova Scotia's participation in the national supply management (SM) system to make sure Canadians have access to safe, healthy, humanely raised chicken. The CFNS Board and staff work to promote the chicken industry and the consumption of chicken with key stakeholders and consumers.
Job Profile: Manager, Data Analysis & Technology
The CFNS Manager, Data Analysis & Technology maintains and analyzes key datasets to ensure CFNS remains compliant with its governing regulations and Board policies. The position also acts as the organization's key technology advisor, staying on top of technology advancements and recommending enhanced solutions for data management, analytics and automation, etc. This role blends strong technical execution with strategic thinking and is ideal for someone who enjoys both building data products and guiding others in how to use them effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain systems to manage datasets in compliance with the CFNS regulations
- Collate and report on complex data from in-house and third-party sources to enable informed decision-making on allocation and price
- Data mining and detailed analysis to identify and explain emerging trends/anomalies as required
- Represent CFNS and contribute to national efforts at Chicken Farmers of Canada meetings of provincial data analysts
- Track and collate production control data and manage producer compliance
- Implement and maintain a new SharePoint site for document management
- Administer the VOIP system and CFNS website
- Act as an in-house technology advisor on data management and automation to other employees
- Liaise with the 3rd-party IT service provider on the annual hardware refresh, incident investigations, new technology deployment, etc.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2-year diploma in a related field (data sciences, analytics, digital services); Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in data management/analytics
- Advanced Excel Skills and experience with database management, analytics or automation tools (E.g. SQL, PowerBI, Python, Tableau)
- Experience administering business systems (SharePoint, VOIP) and websites
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Ability to collate complex data and present it in a user-friendly format
- Effective communication skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently as well in a team environment
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting annual salary between $62,000 and $70,000
