­Communications Assistant & Site Guide

Key Responsibilities:

Communications Assistant

  • Assist and support the Communications & Community Relations Advisor with a variety of internal and external communication, marketing initiatives, education and awareness campaigns, and programs;
  • Conduct research to inform communication strategies and best practices, data tracking and analysis, and website content development, updates, and maintenance;
  • Support overall communications for a broad variety of stakeholder relations, including municipal and community services, corporate initiatives, programs, ­and employee engagement;­
  • Draft, edit, and proofread communication materials and use creative skills to develop visually appealing collateral to enhance communications;
  • Assist with content planning and development;
  • Assist with the development and implementation of communications plans and strategies;
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and logistics of internal and external events, meetings, stakeholder engagement activities, including annual municipal and community communications;
  • Support the creation of visual content, as needed, through photography and videography to enrich communications;
  • Provide general administrative duties such as maintaining records, contact lists, databases, etc.

­Site Guide

  • Lead site and underground guided tours of the Churchill Falls Generating Station, including delivering visitor safety orientations and coordinating online bookings;
  • Assist with creating and updating tour marketing materials when required;
  • Serve as ­the primary contact for visitors during Visitor Centre hours and respond to online requests and enquiries. ­

­You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation's Safety and Health Program.­ You will also be responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.

­What We're Looking For:

  • Strong writing, proofreading, and communications skills;
  • Excellent organization and time management skills;
  • Skilled with computers and standard office applications to access information, prepare reports, and to conduct research;
  • Knowledge of marketing trends and campaign development;
  • Applies sound problem-solving skills, paying attention to detail;
  • Ability to stand/walk for several hours at a time;
  • Experience in customer service, public speaking, and giving presentations;
  • Ability to deal effectively with the general public in person, by phone, and online.­

­What You'll Need:

  • A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution related to communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or business. Students currently enrolled in the above programs will be considered.
  • A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Must possess a Class 5 Drivers License;
  • Bilingual (English and French) would be considered an asset.

Relocation Support

Churchill Falls is a company-owned town supporting the Churchill Falls Generating Station, one of the largest underground hydroelectric plants in the world. Relocation to Churchill Falls will be required. Relocation expenses and subsidized living accommodations are provided to the successful candidate.
