Department: Education and early Childhood Development (EECD) - EECD's Provincial Retention and Recruitment Unit
Placement Description:
EECD's Provincial Retention and Recruitment Unit is seeking a Student Data Analyst to support data-driven initiatives related to workforce planning and recruitment & retention strategies.
Key responsibilities may include:
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to support branch initiatives
  • Developing reports, dashboards, and summary documents to inform decision-making
  • Identifying trends and insights related to recruitment and retention efforts
  • Supporting research and evaluation activities
  • Assisting with data quality improvement and documentation processes

This placement offers hands-on experience in public sector data analysis and workforce planning. The student will work closely with branch staff and leadership, gaining exposure to strategic decision-making processes while receiving mentorship and guidance throughout the term. This role offers an opportunity for skills development with career-focused trainings, self-development workshops, and personalized mentorship.
Need to have:

  • Language requirement: English and French (Bilingual)
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel and MS Forms
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret and present data clearly

Nice to have:

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • Ability to pull reports, see trends, and leverage AI
  • Interest in workforce planning, recruitment strategy, or public policy
  • Strong written communication skills
