Hourly Rate: $30/hour plus 4% vacation pay for 40 hours/week

The Atlantic Economic Forum Event Organizer and Planner leads the development, planning, management, and coordinating of StFX Brian Mulroney Institute of Government's Atlantic Economic Forum (AEF) 2026 hosted by the University. This event involves oversight from the Director of the Mulroney Institute, and input from the offices of the University President, Vice-President of Advancement, Conference Services and the Academic Vice-President. This person will work closely with the Mulroney Institute's Manager of Programming and Research.

This individual is required to be organized and have strong teamwork skills. The AEF Event Planner must be able to successfully navigate potentially sensitive issues and make decisions regarding policy, protocol, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities include but not necessarily exclusive to:

  • Coordinate the visits itineraries and keynote speakers and distinguished guests;
  • Coordinate with Conference Services and external vendors all required services for the AEF;
  • Co-ordinate internal services and communications across departments;
  • Manage event registration of the AEF;
  • Organise gala event, including décor, meal selection, dietary restrictions, VIP seating, and entertainment;
  • On the day of the event be present to staff the registration table, troubleshoot, and welcome participants;
  • Oversee student workers and volunteers; and
  • Report to the Director of the Mulroney Institute on a regular basis

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum Bachelor's Degree;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years' experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in a University environment will be considered an asset;
  • Proficiency in French will be considered an asset;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong work ethics and success at working in a team environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and follow-up with an eye for detail; and
  • MS office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) experience helpful.
