Quality & Environment Technician

Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our Quality and Environment team. This position currently reports to the Technical Manager and is responsible for quality and environmental testing within a paper manufacturing facility. The pay rate for this full-time position is $35.03 per hour and requires shift work (days and weekends).

Responsibilities:

• Sample collection (wood chips, paper sheets, water, etc.)
• Laboratory testing (effluent, pulp, paper and process samples)
• Recording test results

Skills/Competency Requirements:

• Ability to work safely as part of a team
• Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced work setting
• Attention to detail
• Strong problem solving and communication abilities
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Willing to work overtime, after-hours call-ins, and shift work as needed

Experience/Education Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree (or Diploma) with a concentration in Chemistry
• A minimum of 2 years' recent experience working in a laboratory setting
• Experience with laboratory testing within the paper manufacturing process is considered an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Pi Process Book and other Plant computer applications

Compensation:
