Salary: $66,550.00 - $66,550.00/Year Job Type: Temporary Full Time Closing Date: March 1, 2026 Position Overview:Under the direction of the Exhibits/Property Control Supervisor, the position is responsible for the chain of custody of evidence and other property. It includes the collection, secured storage, monitoring of all evidence and property to ensure continuity and preservation until final release or disposal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Update changes to established work processes, procedures, guidelines and policies based on best practices in the policing and non-police environment.
•Recording, storage and tracking of all exhibits
•Maintain a detailed inventory of exhibits.
•Store exhibits in pre-determined, special locked areas to ensure the exhibit is preserved, undisturbed and secured.
•Maintain the processing of exhibits and property as outlined in SJPF Standard Operating Procedures and provincial regulations.
•Assist in providing an effective and efficient use of exhibit storage space.
•As required, act as a member of an audit team to perform physical audits on all property in custody.
•Provide assistance with the retrieval, return and/or destruction of seized property.
•Provide assistance in storing lost or unclaimed property and preparing the property for auction as required.
•Recording, storage, and tracking of member's notebooks and video/audio interviews no longer required for court following SJPF standard operating procedures and retention guidelines.
•Maintain inventory and order equipment and other items held in inventory for issuance to police officers and other police personnel.
•Processing of approved requisitions for police uniforms, equipment, firearms, supplies and dispensing of on-site items.
•Take receipt of incoming orders from all suppliers for police equipment and supplies.
•Processing and performing the daily shipping and receiving function for One Peel Plaza.
•Ensure all shipping is completed on time and recorded properly.
•Ensure all receiving is recorded, handled, and properly stored and/or delivered based on contents.
•Liaison with Detention staff to provide equipment and supplies as required.
•Serve as back-up for Exhibits/Property Control Supervisor as required.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
•Ability to handle situations of potential conflict.
•Adapt to change and capable of working in a computerized and automated work environment.
•Understanding the dangers of and proper handling procedures of exhibits contaminated with biological and other substances.
•Knowledge of the safe handling and storage of firearms.
•Knowledge regarding Federal laws in relation to Firearms.
•Ability to understand the principals of law and law enforcement procedures.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to make independent decisions quickly and with good judgement.
•A working knowledge of the provincial court system.
•Working knowledge of office equipment including computer skills for inputting, updating and retrieving data.
•Be capable of lifting sometimes heavy and awkward items in confined spaces.
•Willing to obtain training as required necessary for the position.
•Self-starter with a sense of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
•Strong data management skills, (Word, Excel, QREP).
•Familiar with asset management applications.
•Strong analytical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills.
•Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written).
PRE-REQUISITES
•Must be security cleared.
•Must successfully pass Integrity Interview.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
•University degree in Business Administration or similar discipline.
•Minimum of two (2) years of experience in inventory management, planning and forecasting or equivalent experience.
