SCHEDULE: Day, On Call, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual essential

JOB SUMMARY :

The incumbent reports to the Manager of the Pediatric Unit. They are responsible for clinic development, coordination, evaluation and service delivery. They coordinate the care, education and nursing follow-up for children and youth with diabetes and their families as outpatients and during periods of hospitalization. They play a central role within the multidiscplinary team to ensure that families benefit from the necessary interventions and support to contribute to the development of their independence in controlling the disease and healthy lifestyle habits to prevent complications associated with diabetes. They plan, develop and coordinate continuing education of nursing staff and members of the multidisciplinary team based on best practice guidelines to ensure safe care for patients. They act as a consultant for community stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Member in good standing of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certificate
  • New Brunswick Insulin Dose Adjustment Certification
  • At least two years' recent experience directly related to diabetes acquired in the last five years
  • Pediatric experience considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and software commonly used within Vitalité Health Network
  • Effective communication and education skills
  • Good time management and priority-setting skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Availability to use own vehicle and to travel within the zone
  • Valid driver's licence and good driving record
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
