Senior School Math Teacher

Employment Term: 1 Year Contract (with potential for renewal)

Job Overview

The school is committed to providing a unique and exceptional experience to our students; as such, the successful candidate will have a proven record of being passionate about teaching, and being collaborative and innovative in their approach to problem-solving. They will also be able to leverage current technology to deliver rich and differentiated lessons.

The ideal Senior School Math Teacher at RNS is passionate about Mathematics and can teach students in our Senior School. Additional capacity to teach sciences at the Senior School level is an asset. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to inspire young people to seek growth and challenge through mathematics.

Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program is an asset but not required.

Key Responsibilities

As a faculty member at RNS, the Senior School Math Teacher is expected to contribute beyond the classroom, and is responsible to:

  • Demonstrate interest in, and participate in different capacities as a coach, advisor, and member of a residence duty team.
  • Teach five (5) classes
  • Lead an advisory group
  • Support students in achieving their academic and co-curricular goals
  • Coach or supervise a co-curricular activity in two of three terms
  • Be a member of a residential duty team.
  • Contribute broadly to the life of the school

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Qualification to teach Math at the secondary level
  • A track record of excellence as a teacher, ideally in an independent school setting
  • Ability to work independently, with solid organization and execution abilities
  • Demonstrate initiative, optimism, and a flexible approach with students, families and colleagues and alumni from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Commitment to high professional and ethical standards in line with our RNS values
  • Skilled at building effective relationships, rooted in trust, honesty, integrity, and authenticity
  • Exemplify a mindset of collaboration, professional growth, and forward thinking
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a healthy lifestyle
  • Proficient computer skills with experience using the MS Office suite
  • Willingness to be involved in the school community
