KENTVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

OFFICE MANAGER (Full - Time)

The Kentville Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) is presently accepting applications for a highly organized and motivated Office Manager.

The Role

This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Reporting directly to the Fire Chief, the Office Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and financial functions of the Department. The successful candidate will be a self-starter capable of working independently with limited supervision. This position offers a hybrid work model with flexible work hours to support work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required to manage daily bookkeeping and financial records.
  • Compliance: Responsibility for timely and accurate GST and WCB Nova Scotia filings.
  • Budgeting: Tracking departmental expenditures and assisting in the drafting of annual budgets.

Administration: Managing office operations and providing administrative support to the Chief and leadership team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Grade XII graduate or equivalent; a Business or Community College certificate/diploma in Business or Office Administration is preferred.
  • Software: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of directly related experience in office management or accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $22.00 - $25.70 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
