The Senior Community Liaison - Indigenous plays a key role in coordinating, supporting, and enhancing the planning and execution of programs and services and plays a critical role in community experience and donor accountability. They work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and community members to ensure services are culturally safe and delivered efficiently, compassionately, and in response to community needs. Acting as a key connector, they support engagement, and seamless program/service execution within their designated program, service line, or functional area. Additionally, the role provides service delivery, including training and workshops, ensuring adherence to standards and policies. The Senior Community Liaison - Indigenous can support response, in relation to disasters and/or social emergencies.

In this role, you will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations/structures, partners, and members to foster culturally safe engagement reflecting commitments against the CRC Indigenous Peoples Framework.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and engagement that aligns with community expectations.
  • Coordinate and support the planning and execution of program strategy and service delivery activities that reflects cultural inclusion and safety.
  • Ensure services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with CRC standards, policies, and community needs.
  • Provide administrative and technical support for program implementation, including coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, managing and analyzing program documentation ensuring alignment to program parameters, and monitoring program progress.
  • Coordinate with program partners, including community agencies/leaders, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and other stakeholders, to ensure effective collaboration and coordination of program activities.
  • Contribute to program monitoring and evaluation efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, to measure program impact and effectiveness.
  • Support and review program/project reporting and documentation ensuring alignment and completion, including preparing program/project reports, success stories, and other program or project-related materials.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with peers and other program teams to share knowledge and ensure program alignment and delivery.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the program and service delivery framework and recommend changes.

What we are looking for:

  • Qualifications include a minimum of 4-5 years' experience and a 1-2 year post-secondary certification/diploma and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in both English and Inuktitut is required, with demonstrated ability in written translation and comprehension.
  • Lived and/or has professional experience with First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis Nations or communities.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with Indigenous communities, organizations, or governments in a culturally safe, respectful, and reciprocal manner.
  • Active in broader Indigenous networks and has an enduring commitment to sharing and advancing knowledge derived through Indigenous knowledge systems including balancing Western and Indigenous world views.
  • The official languages recognized within the Canadian Red Cross are English and French however demonstrated skills and ability to communicate in an or multiple Indigenous language(s) or ability to communicate and adapt within Indigenous protocol is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating workshops, training sessions, and educational programs.
  • Experience in program coordination, including the development and implementation of program plans, budgets, and evaluation activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint is required.
  • Ability to assist with program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret program data for decision-making.
  • Ability to identify, investigate and analyze problems, identify root causes and risks, and apply technical, functional and organizational knowledge to develop solutions.
  • Communication skills, diplomacy and empathy to interpret information and deliver advice, clarify client or stakeholder needs, offer solutions, and resolve escalations in new or somewhat sensitive situations.
  • Must provide appropriate clothing for all weather conditions (e.g., winter boots, parka/jacket, rain boots, gloves, etc.).
  • Must be First Aid certified or willing to obtain First Aid certification.
