What is the opportunity?
The Home Equity Financing (HEF) business provides residential mortgages and secured lines of credit to Canadians. HEF continues to grow the overall portfolio and is the largest residential mortgage portfolio in the country. The Strategic Development team is accountable for keep pace with evolving client preferences and market dynamics by spotting new opportunities to support our overall strategic goals to drive profitable and sustainable growth. The team is responsible for identifying, assessing and executing on strategic opportunities to maintain our market lead in Home Equity Financing through innovative ways to support long term sustainable and profitable growth in a highly competitive environment.
As the Director, Strategic Initiatives you will be responsible for enabling and managing our strategic development opportunities by working with senior stakeholders, key enterprise partners and a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a bold future ambition, including supporting strategy definition, program planning, execution oversight and risk monitoring.
What will you do?
Provide thought leadership and evaluate strategic growth opportunities for HEF
Develop business cases to assess strategic opportunities against Home Equity Financing priorities, including developing a strong understanding of the revenue and cost drivers and financial impacts on RBC
Oversee the ongoing execution across Strategic Initiatives and enable the governance through appropriate cadence of updates to key stakeholders and escalation of key risks and issues
Define a multi-year roadmap and supporting key metrics to operationalize HEF Strategic Initiatives alongside key partners ensuring Initiatives and key performance metrics are well-defined, sequenced appropriately, and interdependencies are managed effectively
Lead the execution of key work streams on the roadmap by working with other stakeholders and aligning partners and teams to the business outcomes we want to achieve
Break-down complex topics into clear and concise messages to enable leadership discussion and effectively convey trade-offs to inform decision making are aligned on the vision and financial benefits to RBC
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
5-7 years' relevant experience
Demonstrated ability to impact and influence across multiple cross-functional stakeholders
Proven leadership, facilitation, and collaboration – with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
An innovative thinker, who has high comfort with ambiguity and is proactive in determining next steps to identify opportunities and drive work forward
Proven track record of leading complex strategy work streams end-to-end, thriving in a fast past environment and demonstrating exceptional critical thinking to drive to outcomes
Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, including experience in creating clear actionable presentations for C-level executives and leaders
Master's in Business Administration degree
