Job Summary

NL Health Services Urban Zone is inviting applications for a Salaried Family Physician to join the

Division of Family Medicine in St. John?s, NL.

NLHS is pleased to support its Primary Health Care Clinic in achieving its goals of providing exceptional and high-quality care to patients in the St. John?s-Metro region. The PHC Family Care Team (FCT) mandate is to provide patients without a primary care provider of the St. John?s/Metro region with access to primary health care services. Services will be provided using an inter-professional collaborative approach where patients will see the right provider at the right time and right place. The team includes physicians, NPs, RNs including diabetic nurse educator, clerical supports, LPNs, pharmacists, social workers, dietitian, physiotherapist and occupational therapist. All health care providers, including physicians, will be expected to practice to their full scope of practice to meet patient needs and requirements. The FCT aims to provide continuity of care to improve health outcomes and patients quality of life.

The successful applicant will not have an attached patient panel. The incumbent will provide coverage for primary care providers that are on leave from their practice. Should no providers be on leave across the Family Care Teams, the incumbent will provide care at the Community Walk In Clinic or the Mobile Primary Health Care Clinic. The successful applicant is accountable for the provision of comprehensive health care services to the patients receiving care from the program, including both longitudinal and episodic care. Hours of work may need flexibility to offer clinics during the daytime, after-hours and on weekends to meet patient needs. The successful Physician will provide care using the EMR Platform

The successful applicant is responsible to the NLHS leadership team and to the Clinical Chief of Primary Care

Required Qualifications

  • To be considered candidates must hold a MD
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NL.
  • Satisfy credentialing requirements of Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Remuneration: Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with

the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in

Newfoundland and Labrador. Starting salary will be based on years of

clinical experience.
