What is the opportunity?
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Reporting & Analytics to join our Wealth Management Canada Business Intelligence Team. You will play a critical role in enabling our Business Intelligence and Analytics team to deliver timely, accurate reporting and insights to our business stakeholders. Your primary focus will be on building robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and providing efficient data delivery mechanisms that empower Business Analysts to focus on analytics and insights generation. This role offers the opportunity to directly support the transformation of our analytics infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of data reliability and accessibility.
What will you do?
· Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to efficiently supply clean, accurate data to Business Analysts for reporting and analytics purposes, reducing manual data preparation time
- Support Business Analyst Requirements: Collaborate closely with Business Analysts to understand their data needs and rapidly deliver structured, accessible data layers that enable efficient dashboard and report creation
- Data Quality & Validation: Implement automated data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and reliability, minimizing errors in downstream reporting and analytics
- Cloud Migration & Modernization: Lead the migration of data processes from legacy SAS and SQL Server environments to Snowflake, enabling faster data delivery and near real-time analytics capabilities
- Data Accessibility & Performance: Optimize query performance and data accessibility so Business Analysts can quickly retrieve and analyze the data they need without technical bottlenecks
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create clear documentation of data sources, transformations, and data lineage to enable Business Analysts to understand and trust the data they're working with
- Metadata & Data Governance: Establish and maintain metadata catalogues, data dictionaries, and governance standards that make data discoverable and usable across the organization
What do you need to succeed?
- Enable Business Analysts to self-serve data needs through well-structured, easily accessible data environments
- Support cloud-first migration from SAS/SQL Server to Snowflake for faster, near real-time data delivery
- Establish unified data ecosystem with consistent data sources accessible to all reporting and analytics teams
- Implement automated data validation and lineage tracking to ensure data integrity and traceability
- Reduce time-to-insight by optimizing data pipelines and eliminating manual data preparation tasks
- Support 100% on-time delivery of regulatory reports (e.g., CRM3, CIRO) through reliable data infrastructure
- This is an individual contributor role
Must haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
- 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data infrastructure role
- Strong proficiency in SQL and or Python and experience with data modeling and dimensional design
- Knowledge of data warehouse architecture and best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with ability to work effectively with Business Analysts and other stakeholders
Nice-to-have:
- Proficiency with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent) and MS Excel
- Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehousing platforms (AWS Redshift, Google Big Query, Azure Synapse)
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for data processing and automation
- Knowledge of financial services or wealth management industry
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and metadata management tools
