Definition of work:
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to provide comprehensive assessment and care to clients in the Dialysis Unit in collaboration with the medical internists/nephrologists. The successful applicant works independently in diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications, performing, or ordering diagnostic tests and treatments, evaluating treatments and providing follow up care.
The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive and holistic nursing care to clients including health promotion, injury, and illness prevention, supportive, curative, and rehabilitative care. As an advanced practitioner, the successful candidate will function in the roles of practitioner, educator, and leader. As governed by provincial regulations, he/she practices independently, collaborating with the primary care physicians and/or specialists in the area for issues outside the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
The successful candidate reports directly to the Regional Program Director of Medicine and Dialysis The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person and family centered care, demonstrate commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve workier and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
? Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program approved by NLHS.
? Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner (Adult or Family/All Ages) with the CRNNL.
? Current BLS certification.
? Five (5) years clinical experience.
? Demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and problem-solving skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
?Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in an advanced practice role.
?Possessed strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management and teamwork.
? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience in Hemodialysis nursing.
?CNA certification in Nephrology
