Executive Director - Chicken Farmers of Nova Scotia

Executive Director
Chicken Farmers of Nova Scotia
Kentville, NS • Hybrid

Chicken Farmers of Nova Scotia (CFNS) regulates and represents over 100 chicken producers across the province and plays a key role in supply management, pricing, allocation, and industry relations. We are seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization, support the Board, and oversee daily operations in a highly regulated and collaborative environment.

About the Role

The Executive Director is the Board's key advisor and the operational leader of CFNS. This role blends strategic leadership, hands‑on management, and technical responsibilities, including allocation-setting, price negotiations, regulatory compliance, and government relations. You will guide a team, build strong relationships across the sector, and represent Nova Scotia at the national level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Board by synthesizing and interpreting large volumes of complex data, providing clear insights that enable informed, confident decision‑making.
  • Prepare annual business plans and budgets.
  • Oversee operations, finance, HR, policies, and administrative systems.
  • Lead staff performance, development, and training.
  • Manage collaborative relationships provincially and nationally, including government and Chicken Farmers of Canada.
  • Analyze data and support allocation and licensing decisions every eight weeks.
  • Lead the Live Price Calculation and support price negotiations.
  • Provide oversight across all CFNS programs (audits, small flock, communications, consumer relations, licensing).

What You Bring

  • Senior leadership experience in a regulated, agricultural, government, or non‑profit environment.
  • Experience working with Boards and governance processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage recurring cycles, data-driven decisions, and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • A collaborative, steady leadership style and comfort learning technical subject matter.

Why CFNS?

You'll lead a respected provincial organization with a direct impact on the sustainability and success of Nova Scotia's chicken industry. This is a meaningful role with strong relationships, visible results, and a mix of strategy and hands‑on leadership.
