The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is currently accepting applications for entry into the Vice Principal Pool.
Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for consideration for the Vice Principal Pool are as follows:
- Completion of HRCE Aspiring School Administrator Program (ASAP) within the last three years (or equivalent - special circumstances may exist at the Director's discretion) or have been in the Vice Principal Pool and their time has expired (maximum of 5 years or 3 years from the end date of an acting VP position of at least 5 months);
- Master's Degree in Education or NSELC ILA Diploma (or proof of current enrolment in a Master's Degree in Education or the NSELC ILA program).
- No disciplinary actions in the past five years.
Process:
The process for application to the Vice Principal Pool is as follows:
1. Current ASAP participants do not have to apply for an interview to the Vice Principal Pool through Careers at HRCE . Current ASAP participants who successfully completed ASAP and have a Master's Degree in Education or NSELC ILA Diploma (or proof of current enrolment in a Master's Degree in Education or the NSELC ILA program) will be provided with an opportunity to interview for possible entry in the Vice Principal Pool. The documentation originally submitted by ASAP participants to enter ASAP will be used for the interview team. Important - if the resume used to apply to ASAP did not identify completion of, or current enrollment in, a Master's of Education or NSELC ILA, ASAP participants must provide an updated copy of their resume via this posting.
2. All other candidates wishing to enter the Vice Principal Pool must have successfully completed ASAP within the last three years (or equivalent - special circumstances may exist at the Director's discretion) or have been in the Vice Principal Pool and their time has expired (maximum of 5 years or 3 years from the end date of an acting VP position of at least 5 months, whichever is later). Candidates who meet these requirements must apply to this posting.

4. Applicants who are selected to move forward in the process will be contacted by Programs and System Services to be interviewed by the Selection Committee which may result in placement in the Vice Principal Pool. Interviews are scheduled for March 11 and 12, 2026.
