­Financial Analyst

­Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly reports for review.
  • Assist with month end close activities, including the preparation of monthly financial journal entries and supporting documentation for review.
  • Provide support in budgeting and forecasting functions, including data compilation, analysis, and engagement with management and other internal departments.
  • Responsible for analyzing data provided and following up on missing or incomplete information with internal departments, as well as third party contractors.
  • Assist in analyzing fleet records ensuring accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Assist in cost-benefit and scenario analysis as required to support capital and operating planning and reporting activities within our Transmissions and Rural Operations (TRO) department as well as Hydro Production.
  • Participates in process improvement as required throughout the department.
  • Provide financial guidance regarding appropriate treatment of expenditures (operating or capital) and ensures activities are in compliance with policies and adhere to internal controls.
  • Provides data support for finance users as required.
  • Extract and analyze data from JD Edwards and Clarity to meet demands in response to requests for information for various initiatives and lines of business.
  • Participating in ad hoc analysis, projects and initiatives.
  • Providing support to Corporate Finance as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Financial Specialist.

­What We're Looking For:

  • Strong written and oral communication skill.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of various teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities.

­What You'll Need:

  • A university degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a professional accounting designation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ability to identify issues, develop solutions and make recommendations to supervisor.
  • Ability to research, analyze and interpret data to support decision making and provide guidance as required.
  • Experience working with JD Edwards Enterprise One would be beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP/IFRS.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting and forecasting or reporting.
