Marine Logistics Specialist

Dartmouth, NS or St. John's, NL

For over 150 years, I.H. Mathers has delivered reliable marine, offshore, and logistics services across Canada and internationally. Our services include marine agency, offshore logistics, cargo handling, warehousing, freight forwarding, immigration consulting, offshore personnel, and customs brokerage.

We are currently seeking a Marine Logistics Specialist to support our freight operations and marine agency team. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced logistics environment and values accuracy, communication, and client service.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a point of contact for clients, delivering professional, in‑person customer service
  • Coordinate port‑related services including pilots, linesmen, berth bookings, stevedoring, and vessel services
  • Board vessels as required
  • Assist with the purchasing of supplies and materials
  • Track and trace inbound and outbound shipments
  • Process client and vendor invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Manage submissions to specified government agencies
  • Enter and maintain files within internal systems and departmental tracking tools
  • Follow ISO procedures and quality requirements
  • Support strong working relationships with clients, vendors, and suppliers

  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Solid computer proficiency

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary education
  • Experience in freight forwarding, marine agency, or logistics is preferred
  • Familiarity with CargoWise is an asset
  • Knowledge of trade rules and regulations is an asset
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and after hours as required
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle (transportation allowance provided)
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • English proficiency testing may be required
