Senior Civil Technician

The Senior Civil Technician is responsible for supporting the civil design team that manages all civil design for terminals and substations. As part of the Civil Design Team, you will:
- Process topographic survey data to assist in grading design, using MicroStation software
- Coordinate with Surveyors to collect required data
- Prepare drawings for site grading and fencing plans
- Assist Engineers with concrete and steel design
- Prepare drawings for concrete foundations and steel structures with associated sections and details
- Complete as built drawings at conclusion of projects
- Conduct occasional field work with Surveyors and other engineering groups, to complete site investigations, and participate in on-site meetings before and during construction
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Civil Engineering Technology diploma (two-year program)
- Five years of experience in civil design and construction surveying, including drafting using MicroStation and MicroStation InRoads/OpenRoads
- Member in good standing of NBSCETT or eligible for membership
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Project, Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Valid Class 5 Drivers' Licence
- Working knowledge of standards such as Canadian Standards Association (CSA), American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM International), Reinforcing Steel
- Institute of Canada (RSIC) and the National Building Code of Canada will be considered as an asset
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
