NSMTC Member Communities:

The North Shore Mi'kmaq Tribal Council (NSMTC) Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that provides service and support to seven First Nation communities - Ugpi'ganjig (Eel River Bar), Oinpegitjoig (Pabineau), Natoaganeg (Eel Ground), Metepenagiag (Red Bank), L'nui Menikuk (Indian Island), Tjipõgtõtjg (Buctouche), and Amlamgog (Fort Folly).

Summary:

NSMTC is seeking enthusiastic and motivated summer students to join our team for the 2026 summer season. This is a great opportunity for students looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive work environment. The successful candidates will work closely with various departments and contribute to meaningful projects that benefit First Nation communities while developing essential skills for their future careers. We have opportunities in the areas of renewable energy, emergency management, housing and infrastructure, communications, and environmental/aquatic sciences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily operations and administrative tasks
  • Community engagement activities including workshops, community meetings and youth camps
  • Conduct research, input data and compile reports
  • Support special projects and outreach initiatives
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate regularly with supervisors
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required
  • Additional tasks as needed to support team goals and priorities

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (college, trade school, or university) for the fall 2026
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation considered an asset
  • Previous work or volunteer experience is an asset but not required
