Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the IB Retail Insurance Team in International Banking ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Execution: Contributes to the overall success of the IB Insurance mandate ensuring all digital & systems projects are executed/delivered on time and within budget. Supports the team's business strategies and objectives with primary focus on optimizing Creditor and non-Creditor sales. Works closely with IT & Digital teams in Governance and in Country to execute projects and initiatives aligned to overall Retail & Bank Strategy.

Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a client focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Develops and executes on the implementation of strategic initiatives and digital program solutions in conjunction with key internal stakeholders and insurance partners.
  • Develops and executes on head office driven initiatives, including problem solving sessions, workshops with cross-functional business lines, local in-country working team members and subject matter experts to develop successful, strategic initiatives, aligned with Retail Strategies.
  • Takes ownership for teams' strong results and contributes to building and sustaining relationships with other key stakeholders throughout the Bank.
  • Collaborates closely with Engineering, Design, and other departments to ensure successful execution of product initiatives. Foster a culture of collaboration and cross-functional communication.
  • Partners with the Client Value Proposition (CVP), Operations, Performance Management teams gathering requirements, writing user stories for all system development including releases.
  • Review and document process workflows, prepare training material and provides training when necessary.
  • Supports the monitoring of KPIs/KRIs of client adoption and digital product penetration, leveraging available data to support findings and recommendations and working closely with the Performance and Analytics team
  • Deeply understand customer behaviour, preferences, and pain points through supportive activities of user research, data analysis, and historic business information and translate insights into actionable product improvements
  • Effectively communicate product updates, progress and insights to executive leadership, stakeholders, and relevant teams within the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement & efficiencies of our insurance systems and processes.
  • Oversees the update/content Insurance content on Scotiabank.com sites and CCA Resource Centre and IB content sites.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

What You'll Bring:

  • University degree in Business or Engineering; an MBA is a Plus
  • Scrum certification as Product Owner is a Plus
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management
  • 5+ years of experience building software
  • Strategic thinking: proven ability to think strategically, define products strategies and translate them into actionable plans that drive outcomes
  • Strong project management knowledge including plan development; scheduling methodology; reporting. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and client relation skills
  • Strategic planning skills and proven ability to develop successful Insurance strategies and action plans
  • Projects good presentation skills with proven success in connecting with different functional areas, partner groups and member groups; an articulate communicator he/she will bring experience presenting at all levels as well as one-on-one.
  • Experience developing strategic plans and a proven ability to communicate, develop and successfully implement operational, sales, digital, product and delivery strategies.
  • Agile methodology knowledge and application to projects
  • A thorough understanding of global trends relating to Insurance
  • Technical knowledge with understanding of systems, design and architecture
  • Advance knowledge of MS Office, SQL, PowerBI and data tools
  • Spanish and English profiency is required

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
  • Periodic International travel may be required
