Site Description:
The Halifax Infirmary is home to the Charles V. Keating Emergency and Trauma Centre. It also houses a number of inpatient units, general surgery, vascular surgery, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedic surgery and outpatient clinics. Registration for outpatient clinics is located at the Summer St. lobby. The main entrance to the Halifax Infirmary is at 1796 Summer St., across from the Summer St. parkade.
Position Details:
Position: Shift Supervisor
Site: Halifax Infirmary Hospital
Hours: 4 on, 4 off rotation, 12 hours shifts, days and overnights
Payrate: $22.50
Key Responsibilities:
Shift Supervisors are responsible for the direction and training of their staff during the day to day operations of the Healthcare Security team at their site.
Communication is a key function of the Shift Supervisor, as they are an extension of the Site Supervisor and Management team.
Shift Supervisors are responsible for:
Directing employees to perform to the standards of Paladin's policies and procedures.
Ensuring employees have and retain knowledge of the site operations.
Ensuring their team is made aware of and understand any Paladin issued memo/announcement.
Ensuring contractual obligations are met - such as no time loss on site. Addressing lateness, absences, and covering shifts as needed.
Responding to all emergencies; taking command of the situation.
Ensuring the health and safety of staff as it pertains to training on Paladin's Occupational Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and reporting any incidents that occur during their shift.
Dealing with disciplinary issues that arise on site, including completion of meetings and paperwork. Severe disciplinary infractions will require collaboration between the Shift Supervisor, Management, and Human Resources. Shift Supervisors duties include (but are not limited to): checking emails and answering any pressing issues, being on call for emergencies, conferring with the Site Supervisor for daily or upcoming matters, assisting with scheduling, facilitating shift change briefings, general cleanliness of the Security Office, and ensuring daily paperwork (sign-in sheets, incident reports, etc) has been completed. An ideal candidate for Shift Supervisor can take care of the big and little things that make a site run more smoothly. They take initiative to help out and always ensures their team of employees is supported and recognized.
