As a Junior Automation Professional, the desired applicant will share MPE's vision to provide industry leading services to our clients throughout Southern Alberta and Western Canada. The position is primarily focused on control system design, PLC and SCADA programming and commissioning.

The successful applicant will work with the Automation and Controls team in our Lethbridge Office.

Your main responsibilities

  • Follow company safety standards, quality procedures, and best practices while working on client projects;
  • Respond to PLC, SCADA, and related communications support requirements as directed;
  • Support the automation and controls team with control system design, PLC and SCADA programming, testing, and commissioning;
  • Assist senior team members with system integration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities;
  • Participate in field work including commissioning and maintenance support across Southern Alberta and Western Canada;
  • Apply and promote MPE's health and safety rules.

What makes you unique

  • Diploma or Degree from an accredited post-secondary institution;
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing or certification with APEGA/ASET;
  • Zero to two years of experience in related position;
  • Experience or knowledge with design software is considered an asset; particularly with AutoCAD;
  • Programming experience with a variety of automation software and hardware;
  • Availability for PLC, SCADA Systems, and related communications emergency support;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills;
  • Willingness to travel to support maintenance and commissioning tasks;
  • Class 5 Drivers License and personal vehicle for out-of-town work as required.
