What you will do
Reporting to a Correctional Cook, this work involves responsibilities for performing a variety of cooking and baking tasks in an institutional setting. The duties of this position include assisting in the preparation of meals, including special diets, according to prescribed menus; storing supplies; food handling and preparation; preparing individual food portions; loading food on carts; serving meals; and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

These job duties are only the basic and prime duties of the job. Related and allied duties may be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of the institution, such as replacing the Correctional Cook and performing cook's duties in his/her absence and on weekends.

Need to have (their essential skills and qualifications):

  • Graduation from high school and experience in large quantity cooking; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Candidates must show successful completion of the National Food Safety Training Program, or any program deemed equivalent by Department of Health.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Candidates must demonstrate on their applications how they have acquired the education and experience for this position. Your résumé should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Operational Requirements: The following operational requirement(s) is also required:

  • Successful candidates will undergo a criminal history clearance as well as a security clearance.
  • Will be required to work weekends.

Wage
$26.13 - $26.71 Hourly
