The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries is seeking an individual to join the Animal Health Services Branch as an Administrative Assistant, in Bathurst.
As a member of the Veterinary Field Services team and reporting to the Supervisor of Pharmaceutical Stockroom and Administrative Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing overall administrative support to Veterinarians and staff in other sections within the Bathurst Regional Office. Responsibilities will include the following: maintaining inventory and dispensing pharmaceuticals to clients; coordinating veterinary calls and appointments; receiving bill payments and monitoring accounts receivable; providing front-line reception services including interacting regularly with clients by telephone and in person; performing general office duties including preparing, editing, and filing a variety of correspondence and documents; coordinating translation requests; ordering office supplies; assisting with meeting perparations; coordinating incoming and outgoing mail, shipping lab samples, and maintaining mailing lists; assisting with administrative support for the financial assistance program as needed; performing other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a one-year related post-secondary diploma, and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience, including a minimum of one (1) year of experience providing client service in an office environment; OR a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience, including a minimum of one (1) year of experience providing client service in an office environment. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience providing administrative support in a veterinary or medical office environment. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be prepared to provide administrative support to other sections within the Bathurst Regional Office as required.
- Must be prepared to travel within the province as required.
- Must successfully complete a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) reference check as requested.
- A valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick or equivalent is required.
SALARY: $42,250 to $51,246 per annum
