As a Drafter in Structural and Building Science, you will support engineers and project teams by preparing high-quality drawings and technical documents for a variety of projects, including structural and building envelope rehabilitation, roof repairs/designs, new construction, and building performance evaluations.
You will work closely with engineers, technologists, and project managers, ensuring all deliverables meet Englobe's standards of accuracy, quality, and compliance.
Your main responsibilities
- Prepare 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D for structural and building science projects (including building envelope and roofing projects);
- Develop and prepare engineering layout drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets and other data;
- Produce detailed plans, sections, elevations, and construction details;
- Assist engineers in modeling building components and layout verifications;
- Update drawings throughout project phases based on markups and change requests
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal quality guidelines;
- Maintain document management practices aligned with Englobe procedures;
- Coordinate with internal teams and occasionally with external partners to ensure drawing accuracy;
- Assist the Engineering Team throughout project duration, to ensure targets are met (schedule/budget);
- Participate in site visits as required to collect data, measurements, and field observations;
- Support preparation of reports, sketches, and technical documentation.
What makes you unique
- Diploma in Architectural Technology, Civil/Structural Technology, or equivalent;
- 3-5 years of experience in drafting (AutoCAD required; Revit an asset);
- 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry;
- Knowledge of layer management and XREFs manipulation;
- Knowledge of building science principles and structural drafting fundamentals;
- Knowledge of the National Building Code and Ontario Building Code considered an asset;
- Familiarity with construction materials (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), building envelopes, and detailing;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy;
- Ability to interpret engineering notes, sketches, and specifications and produce detailed drawings based on them;
- Ability to deal with multiple projects and conflicting deadlines;
- Team player with strong communication and organizational skills;
- Strong communication skills (written and oral). Proficient in English.

The salary range for this position is $47,934 to $71,091 CAD base per annum, based on the responsibilities of the role, internal equity, and current market benchmarks. The final offer will be determined based on a combination of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience and qualifications, their positioning within our internal compensation structure, and relevant geographic cost-of-living considerations, where applicable. This range represents a realistic and good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this role.
