The Opportunity
As a Tax Manager, you will be part of our People Advisory Services Tax, Reward practice. You will join a team of subject matter specialists who provide advice to organizations and high-net-worth business owners regarding employee compensation, domestic and cross-border tax planning, estate and wealth transfer, postmortem planning, and philanthropic planning. Our Rewards practice works closely with our private tax, transaction tax, and international tax groups.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Manager, you will be responsible for recommending and implementing tax strategies that align with the client's objectives, corresponding with legal counsel and tax authorities on client issues, and reviewing personal, corporate, and trust tax returns.
Your key responsibilities
- Identify planning opportunities and prepare correspondence describing the income tax implications of transactions.
- Research client issues that arise from planning or compliance work using a variety of online sources.
- Liaise with the client's legal counsel.
- Review personal, trust, and corporate tax returns and related compliance responsibilities.
- Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues.
- Prepare tax election forms.
- Assist and manage the administration of personal and trust tax compliance seasons.
To Qualify for the Role, You Should Have
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting and/or another appropriate academic major.
- 5+ years of relevant tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industry.
- Completed or enrolled in the CPA In-Depth Tax Course, or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional services environment.
