MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the below position working offshore Atlantic Canada. This a contract position for 12 months with a 12-hour workday.
Vessel: Maran Thule
Position: Master - Available 2 positions
Annual Salary: $260,000
Rotation: Approximately six weeks on/off
Contract: March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027
Position Summary
The Master is in command of the vessel, always, both at sea and in port. The Master is the company's management representative on board the vessel. The Master's over responsibilities include but are not limited to the safety of the crew and the safe operation of the vessel whilst at the same time responsible for protecting the owner's commercial interests. The Master has the overriding authority and responsibility to make decisions with respect to safety and pollution prevention.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- Proficiency in English required
- 6+ years experience in rank
- Bahamas Flag Master Mariners (COC), Class 1
- Unlimited Dynamic Positioning Operator Certificate
- Current Dynamic Positioning - Offshore Loading Certificate
- Bahamas Flag Advanced Tanker Safety (Oil) Endorsement
- STCW Basic Safety
- STCW Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft
- STCW Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
- Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
- Bahamas GOC Endorsement
- Training in the following Specialized Systems:
- Artemis Operator
- HIPAP Operator
- DGPS/DARPS Operator
- BLOM
- Pusnes BLS 5th generation Operator Course
- Experience in working with NSE
- Offshore Loading experience in East Coast of Canada
- Valid Passport
- Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Responsibilities:
- Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
- Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Vessel Manager.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
- Lead, command, and supervise all officers and crew onboard.
- Report operational matters and concerns to the Vessel Manager.
- Identify and report unsafe acts, hazards, or non-compliance with regulations or procedures.
- Ensure safe operation of the vessel, cargo, and marine environment.
- Maintain a strong safety culture and prioritize environmental protection.
- Ensure all personnel follow the Company's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality policies through effective use of the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Maintain an up-to-date SMS onboard and promote continuous engagement and compliance.
- Assign responsible supervisors for onboard activities and ensure procedures are followed.
- Establish, maintain, and practice emergency procedures through planning, drills, and training.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable international, Flag State, Port State, and Classification Society requirements.
- Verify validity of all ship and personnel certifications in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
