MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the below position working offshore Atlantic Canada. This a contract position for 12 months with a 12-hour workday.

Vessel: Maran Thule
Position: Chief Officer - Available 2 positions
Annual Salary: $199,000
Rotation: Approximately six weeks on/off
Contract: March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027

Position Summary
Chief Officer is responsible for the proper management of the deck department as well as the responsible for the planning and execution of all cargo and ballast operations.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficiency in English required
  • 6+ years experience in rank
  • Bahamas Flag Master Mariners (COC), Class 1
  • Unlimited Dynamic Positioning Operator Certificate
  • Current Dynamic Positioning - Offshore Loading Certificate
  • Bahamas Flag Advanced Tanker Safety (Oil) Endorsement
  • STCW Basic Safety
  • STCW Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft
  • STCW Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
  • Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
  • Bahamas GOC Endorsement
  • Training in the following Specialized Systems:
    • Artemis Operator
    • HIPAP Operator
    • DGPS/DARPS Operator
    • BLOM
    • Pusnes BLS 5th generation Operator Course
  • Valid Passport
  • Experience in working with NSE
  • Offshore Loading experience in East Coast of Canada
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

Responsibilities:

  • Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
  • Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
  • Serve as second-in-command to the Master and assume command if required, notifying the Company immediately.
  • Plan and oversee all cargo, ballast, tank cleaning, and cargo system operations in consultation with the Master, ensuring vessel stability and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as Designated Ship Security Officer (SSO).
  • Organize deck crew watchkeeping, routine duties, and supervision of Deck Trainees.
  • Train, mentor, and assess deck officers and Senior DPOs, supporting competence assurance and career progression.
  • Maintain bridge competence, participate in bridge operations, and relieve the Master as required.
  • Hold responsibility for the readiness and maintenance of LSA, FFA, and deck equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with PMS, Company procedures, documentation, and applicable CBAs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Master
