MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the below position working offshore Atlantic Canada. This a contract position for 12 months with a 12-hour workday.
Vessel: Maran Thule
Position: Bosun - Available 2 positions
Annual Salary: $110,000
Rotation: Approximately four months on/off
Contract: March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027
Position Summary
The Bosun is responsible to oversee and organize the day-to-day deck operations of the vessel. He/she must be familiar with all Company procedures, including the Safety Management System, applicable to appointed duties.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- Proficiency in English required
- 5+ years experience in rank
- Watchkeeping Bridge Endorsement (COC)
- AB Seafarer Certificate of Competency
- Basic Tanker Safety (Oil) Endorsement
- STCW Basic Safety
- STCW Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft
- STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
- Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
- Knowledge of Dynamic Positioning Vessel operations
- Valid Passport
- Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Responsibilities:
- Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
- Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
- Planning the daily work schedule under the purview of the Chief Officer and assigning the required work to the appropriate members of the deck crew.
- Seeing that the work assigned to the crew is completed safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining the deck of the ship and overall maintenance
- Responsible for the ship's deck stores, paint locker, Bosun store and other such areas as assigned to the Bosun by the Chief Officer
- Ensuring that the mooring operations, anchoring or the vessel is carried out efficiently
- Inform the Chief Officer of the progress of the deck work being carried out
- Being the connect between the officers and the crew regarding shipboard work
- Taking part in emergency and occupational onboard training such as, the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, firefighting, and man overboard exercises
- Demonstrate safety awareness
