MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the below position working offshore Atlantic Canada. This a contract position for 12 months with a 12-hour workday.

Vessel: Maran Thule
Position: 2nd Engineer - Available 2 positions
Annual Salary: $160,000
Rotation: Approximately four months on/off
Contract: March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027

Position Summary

The 2nd Engineer is the vessel's designated Safety Officer and Safety Representative. Under the supervision of the 1st Engineer, the 2nd Engineer is responsible for the planning and supervision of preventive maintenance activities and repairs to the ship's machinery, equipment, and systems. Responsibilities include the preventive maintenance and maintenance of the main engine and propulsion system and the supervision of the maintenance of the auxiliary machinery.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficiency in English required
  • 3+ years experience in rank
  • Bahamas Flag Engineer Class 4 Endorsement
  • Bahamas Flag Tanker Safety (Oil) Endorsement
  • STCW Basic Safety
  • STCW Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft
  • STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
  • Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
  • Valid Passport
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

Responsibilities:

  • Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
  • Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
  • Able to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the engine room equipment and machinery
  • Knowledge of fuel and oil transfers
  • Taking part in emergency and occupational onboard training such as, the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, firefighting, and man overboard exercises.
  • Act as the Safety Officer (SO) on board and responsible for all duties related to this role.
  • Demonstrate safety awareness
