The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Accounting Services to join our Accounting Services Group. This is a leadership role suited for a motivated professional who enjoys managing client engagements, mentoring teams, and acting as a trusted advisor to owner-managed businesses and organizations. As a Manager, you will oversee engagements from planning through completion, provide technical guidance on complex accounting and tax matters, and contribute to the development of both our people and our firm.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by proactively identifying client risks, opportunities, and value-added solutions.
  • Prepare and review Notice to Reader and review engagement files in accordance with CPA professional standards and firm procedures.
  • Analyze client financial data and provide strategic insights to support informed business decisions.
  • Prepare and review corporate and personal tax returns, HST filings, and other government submissions.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and tax legislation and advise clients accordingly.
  • Mentor, coach, and review work completed by junior team members, providing constructive feedback and technical guidance.
  • Support staff development through on-the-job training, performance discussions, and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide ad hoc advisory services, including budgeting, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to firm initiatives, business development efforts, and committee and community involvement activities.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA designation considered an asset.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience required, with relevant experience in public accounting considered an asset.
  • Proven experience managing client engagements, teams, and ongoing client relationships.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, tax legislation, and accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • A collaborative leadership style and commitment to mentoring and developing others.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism, reliability, and work ethic, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Willingness to take ownership of ongoing learning and to participate in firm initiatives, committees, and community involvement.
