MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the below position working offshore Atlantic Canada, Canada. This a contract position for 12 months with a 12-hour workday.

Vessel: Maran Thule
Position: 1st Engineer - Available 2 positions
Annual Salary: $199,000
Rotation: Approximately six weeks on/off
Contract: March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027

Position Summary

The 1st Engineer is responsible for the management, maintenance, and operation of shipboard engineering systems and equipment. representing, enforcing Company policies and procedures to the crew, clients, sub-contractors, and duly authorized authorities as directed by the Chief Engineer.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficiency in English required
  • 6+ years experience in rank
  • Bahamas Flag Engineer Class 2 Endorsement
  • Bahamas Flag Tanker Safety (Oil) Endorsement
  • STCW Basic Safety
  • STCW Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft
  • STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
  • Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
  • Training in the following specialized systems:
    • Telemetry Technician Course
    • High Voltage for Engineers
    • K-POS Maintenance Course
    • Dynamic Positioning relevant courses: Artemis, BLOM, DGPS/DARPS Maintenance
    • Pusnes BLS 5th generation Technical Course
  • Experience in working with NSE (Planned Maintenance System)
  • Valid Passport
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

Responsibilities:

  • Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
  • Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
  • Be aware of the need to make risk analysis a part of the daily routine. Working with, demonstrating, and encouraging all personnel to always enforce safety awareness.
  • Consult daily with the Chief Engineer concerning the work necessary for the maintenance and upkeep of the engine department and taking part in the shipboard management meetings.
  • Supervise all engine staff, workshop, stores, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist Chief Engineer in training of junior officers, cadets, and ratings in all aspects of engine room operation, best practices, safety, and pollution prevention.
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure that the expenditure is within the limits of the approved budget.
  • Perform all duties as per job description.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Master or Chief Engineer.
