Program Chair, Marketing
The University of Fredericton seeks a dynamic Program Chair, Marketing, with a strong emphasis in digital marketing. This role focuses on the day-to-day management of marketing academic programs, including curriculum implementation, faculty coordination, advisory committee engagement, quality assurance reviews, and scholarship/research. The Program Chair will have teaching responsibilities, enriching the academic experience with industry-informed expertise and ensuring relevant, cutting-edge marketing and digital marketing content is delivered throughout the learning experience. This position emphasizes operational excellence, quality education delivery, and direct engagement with students and faculty.
Academic Leadership:
- Lead the development, refinement, and launch of innovative marketing programming, with a focus on digital marketing strategy, channels, and analytics.
- Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of assigned academic programs.
- Review and monitor the quality, rigour, and completeness of courses within the curriculum; implement improvements based on outcomes data, learner feedback, and market/industry trends.
- Ensure compliance with academic quality standards, accreditation expectations, and university policies.
- Teach marketing courses (including digital marketing) at the bachelor's level and/or master's level as required.
Administrative Functions:
- Provide input into the program's annual budget and assist in planning related to staffing, course scheduling, and continuous improvement priorities.
- Support the Dean in the recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing orientation of faculty.
- Plan for faculty staffing needs and workload distribution, making recommendations to the Dean.
- Collaborate with industry partners (e.g., employers, agencies, professional associations, and marketing leaders) and other academic institutions to promote applied learning, experiential opportunities, and research collaborations.
- Support advisory committee activity for programs (including engagement, agendas, follow-up actions, and translating feedback into curriculum enhancements).
- Represent the University of Fredericton at external functions and participate in university committees as appropriate.
- Support the deployment of new academic processes or formats and recommend policy/process changes where required.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or DBA required (in Marketing or a closely related discipline).
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in higher education preferred (marketing and/or digital marketing strongly preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in higher education administration/management.
- Experience planning, organizing, and managing processes to achieve successful deliverables.
- Involvement in department- or institution-level policy creation, academic governance, quality assurance, and/or curriculum development.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High proficiency in technology use for academic and administrative purposes.
- Significant professional experience in marketing and digital marketing (strategy, channels, analytics, or martech) is considered a strong asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to build trust and collaborate effectively in a virtual environment.
- Demonstrated academic leadership and ability to present information effectively to diverse stakeholders (faculty, students, leadership, and external partners).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient knowledge of university operations and trends in online education.
- Understanding of curriculum development, learning outcomes, assessment design, and program evaluation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, deadline-driven culture.
- Strong working knowledge of digital marketing ecosystems and performance measurement, with the ability to translate industry developments into program quality improvements.

Hours of Work
This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours per week) under regular business hours. The position is based in Fredericton, NB, with the option to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick and attend in-person meetings as required. The ideal candidate resides in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
Occasional after-hours work may be required for planned maintenance or rare incident response.
