Atlantic Lottery is growing, and we're excited to introduce a new Environment Specialist position reporting directly to our Release Manager. This is your opportunity to shape how environments are managed across the organization and play a key role in enabling stable, secure, and seamless software delivery.

As our Environment Specialist, you'll be the backbone of our development lifecycle-ensuring that every environment runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently. You'll collaborate across the organization, contribute to automation and CI/CD improvements, and help ensure our systems meet industry compliance standards.
This is a unique opportunity to help build and evolve environment management practices from the ground up.
What You'll Do
Environment Planning & Strategy
- Coordinate day-to-day operations across development, QA, and staging, and environments.
- Execute environment management activities aligned with application lifecycle needs.
- Follow governance, security, and compliance standards while contributing insights to environment roadmaps.
Provisioning & Automation
- Provision, configure, mask data, and perform environment refreshes.
- Build and enhance automation using Infrastructure as Code, standardized images, and reusable templates.
- Promote automation first practices to improve consistency and efficiency.
Security, Compliance & Continuity
- Apply required security controls and maintain audit ready environments.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Work with Security and Risk teams to meet regulatory standards (SOC2, ISO27001, etc.).
Collaboration & Issue Management
- Partner with development, operations, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to resolve environment issues quickly.
- Ensure environment readiness and coordinate changes to prevent conflicts.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor performance, capacity, and operational trends.
- Recommend improvements and automation opportunities.
- Maintain data for environment SLAs, KPIs, and cost management reporting.
Documentation & Best Practices
- Create and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for environment management.
- Support continuous improvement and promote consistency across teams.
Financial & Vendor Support
- Assist with vendor coordination and environment related budgeting.
- Optimize cloud and infrastructure costs through rightsizing and reservation planning.
Qualifications We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 3-5+ years in environment management or similar IT roles.
- Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with environment metrics, SLAs, and audit support.
- Must be 19+ and reside in Atlantic Canada.
Technical Skills
- Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- ITIL familiarity
- Monitoring tools & performance tuning
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Budgeting and vendor management
Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for diverse audiences
- Proven collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple environment activities simultaneously
- High attention to detail, especially with configuration, compliance, and documentation
- Adaptability in fast-changing technical environments
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on standardization and automation
Nice-to-Haves
- Certifications: ITIL, cloud architecture, DevOps
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
Work Location & Flexibility
- Office or Hybrid (after probation)
- Work from either our Moncton or Halifax office.
- During Probation: Full-time, in-office (Moncton preferred)
- After Probation: Choose full-time in office or hybrid (2-3 days/week on-site)
Compensation
- Salary Band: $75,200 - $122,200
- Expected hiring range: $75,000 - $90,000, depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

Recruitment Process
